Skin Deep

Recently my skin has been really dry. I have not experienced this before. Usually it just gets better by itself. However I think the problem is skin deep this time. It started out as dry skin. Thinking that it is due to lack of moisture, I applied moisturiser X to my face. The moisturiser didn't help much as my skin still felt tight so I decided to use another type of lotion.

I applied lotion Y onto my face yesterday thinking that it might be better since the description was sevenfold (the label states the seven uses(wonders) of the lotion). Not long after applying the lotion, my face began to itch. Trying to ignore the itch, I went to bed. But the itch just got worse. So I got up and washed my face to get rid of the lotion. However, after washing, the itch persisted. In fact it got worse. It itched throughout the night. I hardly had any sleep because it itched so badly.

My face has itched the whole day and is now covered in red patches. What do I do now? I have tried using ice to soothe the itch but it only works when the ice is on my face. I can't stop the itch and I am worried about the effects of the itch. Help! I need a dermatologist's advice. Please assure me that it is just an allergic reaction towards the cosmetic product.

Simple words to a new beginning

How often do people update their profiles, photos and shout outs on facebook, MSN, friendster and other website? Very often for those who are hardworking. I don't happen to fall under this category when it comes to updating profiles and photos. My friendster, facebook and MSN has not been updated since being set up.

There was a fellow, whom I do not know but added me on friendster. He sent me a message which read "....did you notice someone staring at you during the event?". My answer to which I did not reply him is "No". Well anyway, back then before Friendster incorporated the allow access function everyone was allowed to add anyone and instantly appear as a friend in the list. And that was how he ended up in my list. A couple of years later, this fella sent me another message. This time the message read "So sell hard". I suppose he was referring to my profile description in which I have not update since coming into being. And I think the message should have been "hard sell". Anyway, that didn't garner any reply as well.

Yesterday, while chatting with a friend of mine, he pointed out that my MSN shout out has not been updated for the past 2 years. He then gave me suggestions on how I could change the messages posted. He suggested that instead of "Why does it always rain on me?", the message should instead be "Why does it always shine on me? again". What he said is really true. I should post new, positive shout outs. Everything should be on a positive note. New year new beginning. Thank you for your suggestions. Sometimes, simple words will really change things.

Year of the Ox 2009

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!! It certainly took quite a while to get this entry up. Have been out and about a lot. Besides, my cousin's computer is a bit of a nuisance of late. It has been showing porn pop-ups for no apparent reason and it is really annoying. I have tried every method I know to hinder the pop ups but what do you know, the pop ups are more advance than my expertise at stopping them.

I have been away from home for two months now. The strange thing is that I do not feel home sick at all. During my time away, I have done good for the society. The country should honour me with an award for I have been contributing a lot to the ailing economy. I have been spending so much on shopping that I am driving my bank account into overdraft.

On New Year's Eve, I dropped by The Gardens and Mid Valley again. I would say I did the fastest shopping that day. Use up the last of my money in the wallet during that trip. My wallet has never been this dry. Thankfully the shops closed early that day. The shutters came down at 3 p.m. . Was walking through this part of the mall when suddenly it was so warm. Darn this mall management. They shut off the air conditioning to chase people out of the mall.

Yesterday, I went to Pavillion again. It wasn't my intention to spend. However, after strolling the mall for a while, I spent money again. I finally found something that I have been looking for (although it was not in my pre-desired colour but it will do). *Sob* I used up one red packet earnings for that. It is only the beginning of the New Year and I am already poorer by a few hundred. *SWEAT* I do have to add, MNG salesgirls are rude. The Pavillion MNG salesgirls are by far the rudest. The company must have a Human Resource department with an attitude problem. Which explains why the people that they hire have attitude issues. Spent a whopping 6 hours in that mall. My legs are aching from the long hours of walking.

Happy Chinese New Year. May the year of the Ox brings me ample good fortune. Red packets in any big currency, namely US$, pound, euro,S$, RM are welcomed. Minimum amount $50.....Maximum amount...No Limit.

22 Missed Calls

This is not a synopsis of a movie. This actually happened to me. Last week, I checked my phone upon hearing a beep. I had left it in a room by accident and totally forgotten about it. I was downstairs when it rang itself out of battery.

Upon checking, I was surprised with what was in front of my eyes. The note read: 22 missed calls. I checked the time of calls. It all happened within a period of an hour. For an unknown person to call 22 times, it must be really urgent. I was deliberating whether to return the call. After all, I do not have this number in my phone book and I was waiting for important calls. Just when I was about to return the call, my phone rang again.

Hey, what do you know. That very urgent/eager caller calls again. Hence, I answered.

Me: Hello

Caller: Makes funny noise (silence)

Me: Hello?

The line went dead.

Then I thought oh well, the caller must have dialed the wrong number. Just as I was about to brush it off, my phone rang again. The number showed on my screen was that very same number.

This time I passed the phone to my sister. She answered. He said something (I don't know what he said to her). She asked him who are you looking for in malay. He said something again. She told him he dailed the wrong number. But he seems to disbelieve. As though we were playing a prank on him. Any minute he believes what we say, Ashton Kutcher will appear and tell him that he has been punked.

The poor fella indeed has been punked. Not by us though. Some girl must have given him a random number (which happens to exist and it happens to be my number). And this really enthusiastic fella thought the girl of his dreams has given him her number. People, if you really do not want to give someone your number, DON'T.

Do not simply name the digits that come to your mind to strangers or people you do not want to give your number to. It is not just childish but annoying and pathetic.

2008 Wrap-up

In a couple of hours we'll be kissing 2008 goodbye. This year has certainly flew by. For me this year has been pretty much good albeit the sucky moments. Bid my uni farewell and I am currently bumming. There were ups and downs but nothing severe. The sucky moments were too trivial to bring me down. Come this new year I would have to make decisions that would change my life one way or another.

* Continue studying

* Enter the world of politics (worklife)

* Get settled down?

Seriously, I don't know. Hope the best awaits me in 2009. Farewell 2008.

Walking Marathon

Given the craze of marathons going around, I took part in one myself. My walking gear for the marathon include: High heels, sneakers, and slippers. I started the marathon with high-heels. Then switched to wearing sneakers and finally, settling for slippers.

My legs have undergone a great deal of intensive work out from a walking marathon that started in the past few days. For four consecutive days I have been walking non stop. My legs have not undergone such extreme work out in a while. The walking marathon kick start on Friday and clocked a six hour long walking and shopping marathon. Then on Saturday, the walks extended beyond the mark set on Friday on another round of shopping spree. On Sunday, I managed to clock a couple more hours. Then on Monday, another four hours was added to the record. My legs are so overused and are aching now. It's going to take a while to get accustomed to this.

After all these walking, I only managed to get several items. Sigh. A long way more to go. (*Sings "These Boots are make for walking" ... These boots are make for walking. That's just what they'll do....)

Two Sides of a Burger

Once upon a time, someone who really loves fish created a different way of eating fish. The person de-boned the fish and deep-fried it. This person then put the deep fried fish into a bun. Whala .....the Fillet-o-fish was born. Over the years, this burger has transformed into various shapes and sizes. It was once bigger than my face and bigger than my hands could hold that it had to be halved. That was long ago. Actually not that long ago. The big bun used to be wrapped in a piece of blue paper but now has been framed in a box.

Now I have outgrown the burger. See my hand is bigger than the burger. Or has the burger shrunk? It is so cute. It deserves a place in the miniature museum along with other lilliputian items.

Donuts

There is a new craze in town. Everybody is going dodo over donuts. Since this shop opened its doors, it has been filled with long queues. Throngs of people swarm the outlet, eager to have the experience of tasting donuts. The intensity of their eagerness might lead them to camp outside the shop if they have to. These people are diagnosed with the "new loo" syndrome. The symptom of the syndrome is whenever a new shop opens, it will be packed. But after a while, the craze fades and so does the business. For the moment, the craze appears to stay.

To get to the core of the craze is to get hands on. Hence I got hold of a box of donuts. The design of the box reminds me of the backdrop of my blog. See the similarity?

The donuts come in different colours and there are a variety of different flavours to choose from. The donuts that make the cut.

From left to right.
Top row: Chocolate, Kiwi and Durian.
Bottom row: Cherry, Chocolate-cappuccino and Cheese.

I don't remember the fancy donut names so I am just naming the flavours. The Cherry flavoured donut is lovely. The sourish cherries neutralised the sweetness of the donut although the donut itself was not really sweet. The Cheese donut was lovely too. It has a nice blend of sweet and salty. The appearance of the Durian donut caught my attention. It stood out amidst the other rainbow coloured ones. Its appearance reminded me of a blow fish. However, it tastes so-so only. The Chocolate-cappuccino donut was also so-so only. The Chocolate donut was ok. Overall, Big Apple did a better job than the other existing flavoured donut shops because Big Apple donuts are less sweet.
