Recap on 2011

In about 8 and a half hours, we'll be bidding farewell to 2011. This year has certainly passed by real quickly. It seems not too long ago it was only January. Seems that the fast forward button had been hit for 2011.

For me, 2011 had been a rather good year. I had done things I never had the courage to do. Started a new chapter in life. Stepped out from my comfort zone. Met new people. Some good some bad. Reconnected with some from the past. Have new responsibilities and commitments. Being "idolised". Changed my hairstyle (back to the style I had for most of my childhood). Hairstyle being imitated. Participated in activities that I would never volunteer myself for (not by choice). Being forced into something without my consent (might be for the better or worse, yet to know. Will only find out sometime in 2012). Albeit having several setbacks. Overall it has been rather fruitful.

2011, thank you for the good times and please bring along with you the bad and rotten ones. May 2012 be a better one. Farewell 2011.

*HAPPY NEW YEAR

Lazered

The past few days had been really exhausting. I traveled all the way home. Had a horrible coach ride. Almost puked during the journey. My entire face went numb from the nausea. Thankfully I managed to prevent myself from vomiting. I didn't managed to get any rest the moment I reached.

The next day was the same. I was woken by the very impatient father early in the morning and have been on the road the entire day. Spent the entire afternoon running from hospital to hospital looking for a skin specialist. I ended up at a skin specialist clinic. Waited the entire afternoon for my turn. It was really annoying. Spent 3-4 hours waiting in line only to have a less than 10 minutes consultation. I finally had the "lump" removed from my middle finger. The doctor looked at it for a while, looked bewildered then said "I'll laser it off now". He then injected my finger with anesthetic. That jab hurts. I yelped and he gave me a weird reaction (he made it seemed as though he was frightened by my yelp, and pulled the needle away). I was then told to lie down. He rang the bell and in came several nurses. One of them covered my eyes with damp gauze.

The doctor was telling the nurse "There's gong to be a lot of blood". Panic attack. I then felt the doctor rub something gel like on my finger. He then said "Ok, it's done". The nurse then applied some medicine on the wound and plastered it.

The wound still hurts and looks kinda gross.

Bye Bye Plan

Have to bid my leave plan goodbye. After saving my leave up for the long deserved break as well as my maiden voyange home (haven't been home in half a year), I had to cancel it. "Y U SO UNFAIR TO ME?" "Y U LOVE TO TORTURE ME?"

*Place emphasis on chorus

"Home" Michael Buble

Another summer day
Has come and gone away
In Paris and Rome
But I wanna go home
Mmmmmmmm

May be surrounded by
A million people I
Still feel all alone
I just wanna go home
Oh, I miss you, you know

And I’ve been keeping all the letters that I wrote to you
Each one a line or two
“I’m fine baby, how are you?”
Well I would send them but I know that it’s just not enough
My words were cold and flat
And you deserve more than that

Another aeroplane
Another sunny place
I’m lucky, I know
But I wanna go home
Mmmm, I’ve got to go home

Let me go home
I’m just too far from where you are
I wanna come home

And I feel just like I’m living someone else’s life
It’s like I just stepped outside
When everything was going right
And I know just why you could not
Come along with me
'Cause this was not your dream
But you always believed in me

Another winter day has come
And gone away
In even Paris and Rome
And I wanna go home
Let me go home

And I’m surrounded by
A million people I
Still feel all alone
Oh, let me go home
Oh, I miss you, you know

Let me go home
I’ve had my run
Baby, I’m done
I gotta go home
Let me go home
It will all be all right
I’ll be home tonight
I’m coming back home

Fruits

As part of the Employee Wellness Program, my company gave us fruits today. Since I haven't posted any photos in the longest time, I took some photos of the fruits (jakun mode on).

The packet contains a chinese pear and several tangerines.

I also had my BMI done today. It was rather embarassing. There were several cameramen taking photos and video when our BMI was taken. Jacobs please don't publish it.

My company has also arranged for all employees to get the influenza vaccination a few days before the fruits distribution. The doctor that gave us the jab was rather a clown. After giving me the injection, he was supposed to cover the jab area with a plaster. Instead, he placed the plaster above the jab area. And yes the wound does hurt. When I peeled the sticky plaster off, I almost teared and was whimpering. Not only from the pain but also from the 'hair' that was peeled off along with the plaster.

Two Sides of a Coin

There is something that has really been bothering me. It is not something that I am fond of or want to do. But then again, it is not that I have much choice. It was practically shoved down my throat. I do not have much choice but to reluctantly accept this. I was told to just accept this as a challenge. Like I have a choice anyway.

It's me the clueless sheep vs. the numerous expert taichi masters. I am definitely the sacrificial offering. I was initally fine with the whole idea until I found out the number of people exiting. If they can't handle it, what makes me think I can? Why do you always make my life difficult?

But then again, on the bright side, it might be the catalyst to a promotion. Staying put in a location that is filled with ancient rocks that has not changed for a while will not get me anywhere near the pinacle.

Sings along to "I Have Confidence- Sound Of Music"

What will this day be like?
I wonder
What will my future be?
I wonder
It could be so exciting
To be out in the world
To be free
My heart should be wildly rejoicing
Oh whats the matter with me?

I've always longed for adventure
To do the things I've never dared
Now here i'm facing adventure
Then why am I so scared?

Captain with seven children
Whats so fearsome about that?

Oh I must stop all these doubts
All these worries
If I don't i just know i'll turn back
I must dream of the things I am seeking
I am seeking the courage I lack

The courage to serve them with reliance
Face my mistakes without defiance
Show them I'm worthy
And while I show them
I'll show me! So!

Let them bring on all their problems
I'll do better than my best
I have confidence
They'll put me to the test
But I'll make them see
I have confidence in me

Somehow I will impress them
I will be firm but kind
And all those children
Heaven bless them
They will look up to me
And mind me

With each step I am more certain
Everything will turn out fine
I have confidence the world can all be mine
They'll have to agree I have confidence in me

I have confidence in sunshine
I have confidence in rain
I have confidence that spring will come again
Besides what you see I have confidence in me!

Strength doesn't lie in numbers
Strength doesn't lie in wealth
Strength lies in nights of peaceful slumber
When you wake up
Wake up! It's healthy!

All I trust
I give my heart to
All I trust becomes my own
I have confidence
In confidence alone

Spoken:
Oh help

I have confidence in confidence alone!
Besides Which you see I have confidence
In me!!!!!!!!!!!!

Close Call

I almost got crushed by the lift doors today. All thanks to a uncivilised, anal bitch. As usual, we waited for the lift during lunch. When the lift doors open for the first lift, it was akin to a can of sardines. Hence we waited for another lift.

After waiting for a while, the second lift finally arrived. Two of my friends stepped in. I was right behind them. When I was about to step in, the lift doors suddenly shut, almost crushing my fragile frame and face. My friend who was already in the lift quickly pressed the lift door open from the lift's side panel.

When I got in, they were whispering and shaking their heads. I found out from them that the lift doors did not go bonkers and shut itself so quickly. It was all because the girl inside the lift pressed the close button to prevent people from entering the lift. Luckily my friend was quick. Otherwise I would have been crushed.

What a rude and selfish bitch. It is hard to comprehend how people can develop such preposterous behaviour. Wonder what's her rush to get back to the 18th floor? Did she needed to shit so badly that she has to forced the lift to go at lightning speed so that she won't shit her pants?

Successor for Phone

I have been on the look out for a successor for my old faithful phone who has almost reached it's time to be reunited with Steve Jobs. I couldn't quite decide on which to choose. Partly because I am still pining for the iPhone5. Why does Apple have to take eons to launch the iPhone5? In need of a phone badly.

The iPhone5 has been rumored to look something like the photo below.

iPhone5

iPhone5

I don't really know why I'm so into getting the iPhone. Not too sure if it's because of the brand, the hype or simply because I never had an iPhone.

Some other phones that I have been considering on getting.

HTC Rhyme

What's appealing about HTC Rhyme is the accessories that comes with the phone. Apart from that the purple colour makes it kinda unique, namely because other smart phone are either black or white.

HTC Sensation XL

Yet to arrive on our shore. It is said to be the enlarged version of Sensation XE.

Samsung Galaxy S2

What I love most about Galaxy S2 is it's sharp display and swipe function for it's keyboard.

HTC Sensation XE

The cool thing about Sensation XE is the 3D effect when changing between pages. Not too sure what that's called. I'm so backward. Sigh.

What should I do? Should I wait for iPhone5? It's said to be launched in the Summer of 2012. Doubt old faithful can last that long. Should I just get the other phones while waiting for the iPhone5?

Food Poisoning

I am down with food poisoning. It's been really horrible. I vommitted and purged. The purging was really beyond my control. Purged shit water (don't know what it's called). The vommitting was worse. Prior to the vommit, it was hell. I couldn't sit, nor lie down. Standing up was worse as I was dizzy. The worse part was that both the vommit and purging wanted to race to see who emerge first. Didn't know wheter to sit and poop or to stand to vomit. This took place throughout the wee hours.

After don't know how many rounds of purging and vommiting, I couldn't handle it anymore. I went to the clinic. I waited in line for almost an hour in the clinic before it was my turn to see the doctor. After relaying my symptoms to the doctor, I was told to lie down for further examination. He then pressed hard on two parts of my stomach and asked whether they hurt. When he pressed hard on my "abdomen" (again I'm unsure what it's called), I almost vommitted. He then checked my temperature and recorded that I do have fever. The doctor says that it's normal to have fever when we have food poisoning as it is our's body's way of killing the germs.

After the consultaion, I had to wait another god knows how many minutes before it was my turn to collect my medication from the dispensary. My fever rose and I felt really sick. Throughout the day I was down with fever. I didn't have a proper meal as I could hardly eat. Just kept getting up for medication then back to sleep.

Rappelling

Attended my company's team building yesterday. It was held in some remote, secluded resort far from civilization. The bus ride itself took more than an hour. It would have been faster had the bus driver took a shorter route.

Upon reaching the resort, we were served with a breakfast buffet. Then after, we were ushered into a ballroom for a talk. The talk was rather interesting with quite a number of dirty jokes thrown in here and there. Right after the talk were were told to enter the ballroom next door. There, we were given a warming up session. It was pretty much like playing Simon says.

After the warming up session, we were divided into groups and directed to smaller "discussion rooms". We were then divided into subgroups and were told to create our team flag, team name, war cry,and etc. Then it was followed by lunch.

After lunch our outdoor activities began. My group was assigned to repelling or abseiling. We were given a short briefing followed by a demonstration of what were had to do. In 2 leaps, the instructor had reached the ground from 5 storeys. Panic started to sink in after the demonstration. A girl stated crying when we were told to start. Our team was the last to go, so we sat there and watch as the other 2 teams leap off the wall. The longer we waited, the more we start to worry.

While waiting, our group instructor for the day told my team to gather for a group photo. We obliged and gathered nearby for the photo. Then we loitered around waiting for out turn to get up there. Our turn soon arrived.

When it was my turn to put on the rappelling gear,my team mates said "The equipment doesn't fit. You're too thin". Then several team mates started to tug the belting to tighten the harness to my butt. The instructor then placed the helmet on my head. We then climbed up 5-storeys through a dark and narrow stairway.

When it came my turn, the instructor on the top fasten the rope to the harness on my waist. He then told me to step out the window onto a thin and narrow metal platform. He told me to get into the sitting position and hold on to the rope. With one hand on the top of the rope and the other on the part near my waist, I was told to start. The instructor said to me before I stepped off the platform "Don't worry, the equipment is heavier than you". That made me laughed.

I then stepped off the platform. Then I kicked the wall and let go of the rope. Trust me, it is not as easy as it looks. The instructor on the ground instructed me to kick the wall. And so I did as I was told. The first kick wasn't too bad. When I returned to the wall, it started to get harder as I only had the rope as support. Not being trained for abseiling and this being my maiden attempt, it was seriously tough. The subsequent wall kicks got harder. I did a light kick and got lower. But the instructor wasn't satisfied and told me to kick harder with both legs.

When I kicked the wall with both legs, I spun around in mid air. That was quite scary as I couldn't get back to the wall. Apart from that I wasn't told whether to let go of the rope when I kick, or to let go of it after I kick. I was just simply kicking and releasing the rope from my grip. After heaven knows how many kicks, I heard the instructor on the ground say " Let go of the rope now. I have control". So I did as instructed. And was lowered to the ground.

After the rappelling, we were to do a treasure hunt. Our team grabbed our bags and was heading to the other side when our team leader asked "Where's our flag?" All of us looked at each other as we had no clue who was the last person to hold the flag. We were too engrossed in the rappelling that we forgot about our team flag. We then searched for our flag but it was no where to be found. Our team lead then said that it's ok. So we proceeded with the treasure hunt.

Before we could even start, it started to pour. It rained so heavily that we had no other choice but to seek shelter in the resort. Since it was raining so heavily, we were told to proceed with tea and the treasure hunt will proceed after the rain stops. But the rain did not stop. In fact it rained harder. We waited and waited for the rain to stop and finally the treasure hunt was called off. We were then told to proceed to the porch.

At the porch, the winners for the best of each of the four groups were announced. Our team emerged as the winner for the red team. We were ecstatic but at the same time perplexed as how we won given that we lost out team flag. When our team lead came back, he said we most probably won for our co-operation during the rappelling session.

After that, we were given certificates for our participation. However, we were not given our own certificates. We were given other people's certificate and we were told to search for our own cert from the other party that has our cert. When we find the person holding our cert, we are to shake their hand and give them a hug. We were then told to return the flag poles (the broom stick). Our team started to worry as we lost our flag. Then one of the instructors took out our flag from his pouch. We suspected it was him but he pretended not to know when we asked about our flag earlier when we discovered it went missing.

Our team building session ended after a photo session. We adjourned and boarded our respective coaches. By then it started to rain again. Our hour long journey became over 2 hours long due to the heavy downpour and bad traffic congestion.

I was aching all over when I reached the office concourse. The ache got worse today. It only ached near my butt area yesterday. But today my torso area hurt too.

3 Apples

The world has been changed by 3 apples.

1) The first apple was the apple in the Garden Of Eden.

2) The second apple was the apple that fell on Newton's head.

3) The third apple is one helluva apple that has transformed our lives. That is Apple founded by the late Steve Jobs.

All three apples have reamarkable impact on our lives. And all three founders are reunited in heaven.

In remembrance Steve Jobs 1955-2011.

Hunger Pangs

For the past few days, I have been constantly hungry. I do not know what has gotten into me or what is wrong with my stomach. Perhaps it is due to the long hours in the office with the arctic like temperature throughout the day. On top of that, probably the food that I consume lacks nutrition. Or I am simply turning into a pig.

Shouldn't Have

Aaarrgghh!!! Shouldn't have done it. Regret it the minute the stylist cut my hair. Now how am I to go to work on Monday? Oh man. Me and my big mouth. Should have said "No" regardless of what the stylist say. She chuckled the minute she cut my hair off. Look so dumb right now. Sigh. If only I could turn back time. Never mind. It's just hair.

Another 3 months till it grows. Maybe longer.

Rude Crazy Old Lady

It doesn't pay to be respectful to the elderly. Today happens to be crazy old folks day as I had several encounters with deranged old folks who throw tantarums over nothing. The first situation happened in the morning when I mentioned that my coffee wasn't hot and why wasn't the microwave being used. The old lady blew her lid because she disallow the use of the microwave because her son says that the wave is bad.

The other baffling scenario took place at the mall today. I was following the leader of the troop while we were walking to the opposite side of the mall. Enroute to the shops at the opposte side, we were engulfed by this whole family from the opposite dircetion that was walking towards us. The entire family swarmed over us and squeezed in between us. Among them was a frail looking old lady that was walking haphazardly. Fearing that she might fall if we happen to accidentally brush, I stood still to let her walk pass. As she approached my side, she suddenly shoved me. I was stunned when shoved by her as I almost lost my balance. She then turned around and scolded me. Probably profanities. What an rude crazy old lady. This shows that it doesn't pay to respect old people. What a prepsoterous person.

Must be the full moon today as crazy people tend to be crazy during the full moon.

TP Tantrums

My TP(office notebook) have been giving me a really hard time. It has been throwing tantrums and corrupting most of the files that I have painstakingly worked on. Then it decided to take it up a notch by blinking. Feeling frustrated that it always hangs and having my files corrupted, I had to call the Helpdesk. The Helpdesk helped me lodge a ticket and I was told to wait for a call from IT.

A person from IT then called and I was instructed to bring it up to them. I was then greeted by this uncle who was supposed to assist me. Upon seeing me, he asked me:

Uncle: Are you from China?

Me: No.

Uncle: Your name is unusual.

I get this all the time. This is not the first time I have been asked about my nationality. I recalled when I went for the interview, the security lady at the reception asked me whether I'm Korean.

Anyway, back to the story. So I related my issues to the IT uncle. His response was:

Uncle: Show me how it blinks.

Me: (Thinks to self, how am I to demonstrate how the computer blinks when it doesn't?)

So I told him I can't. And his response was:

Uncle: Next time when it blinks, take a photo and show me.

Me: (sweat)

Samsung Galaxy S II or Iphone 5?

I'm caught in a dilemma. Should I get the Samsung Galaxy S II or wait for the Iphone 5? Have been scouting for a phone for quite some time now, but I have yet to decide which to get. Those phones that come with a less hefty price tag either has this or that but those that have the entire "package" comes with a hefty price tag. What should I do? Should I just get the Galaxy S II now or should I wait half a year for the iPhone 5?

There Goes My Weekend

The weekend was supposed to be the time to relax and unwind before heading back to work. I just have to fall sick during the weekend. Bummer. Really sucks. Had a migraine like headache on Saturday.

Woke up just in time to head out for lunch at Sakae Sushi. Took a stroll around the "mall" and ended up watching a bit of the breakdance competition going on. Headed home after some grocery shopping. Headache got worse. Took Panadol and had a nap. Got up from my nap but headache still persistent. Went to the cinema to watch X-Men. The extreme cold and loud surround sound in the cinema, coupled with the junk food didn't help much with the headache. Felt worse after getting home from the movie. Note to self : Bad idea to watch a movie with a migraine. Took Panadol and went to bed after a shower.

Woke up the next day feeling feverish and dizzy. After breakfast, took another panadol. Watch some show on the internet but couldn't continue due to feeling unwell. The dizziness still persists. Didn't have much choice but to pop another panadol and went back to bed after much effort to refrain from throwing up and getting over the fever. After about an hour or so of napping, got up for a slice of bread. No where feeling any better. Anyway it was an hour away from dinner.

Five hours after dinner, I am nowhere near the end to the dizziness pang. I don't want to be sick. Fever and dizziness and migraine, please go away.

EOL Phone

It has been a while since my phone started showing signs of aging. Recently its health deteriorated drastically. The battery just wears off after the phone rings or if a text message is left unanswered for a while (as it keeps buzzing to inform that there's a message). Getting a phone has been a top priority recently, not to keep up with the trend but merely a necessity. However, it just seems impossible and out of reach to get a phone at the moment.

While I do hope to own a smart phone, it is not just as simple as walking into a shop and getting a phone. These days, it is the package that determines whether or not the phone is actually smart and not the phone functions that makes the phone smart per se. On top of that, there's concern regarding whether the iPhone5 will be debuting soon. You would really kick yourself in the head if you have gotten yourself an iphone4 and shortly after that the iphone5 is released.Dilemma. I'm desperately in need of a phone that doesn't die on me. Currently, I have to carry the charger around to keep it alive while I'm at work. Grunts.

My phone has reached it's EOL (end of life). It has been servicing me for the past 4-5 years. Yeah, I'm that obsolete when it comes to gadgets. Hotokajo (what do I do? in Korean). Sadly, even though I am a part of the workforce, I couldn't afford to get myself a decent phone. Sigh. I want to be a billionaire so freakin' bad. In need of a phone desperately. Oprah if you are reading this please help me out.

Are You Dummy?

Last Friday, I called the Helpdesk up to report on the mistake in my name. When the person from the Helpdesk answered,I was stunned by what she said. She asked me:

Helpdesk: Are you dummy?

I was speechless for a moment. That's rather harsh now isn't it? It wasn't my fault that there was a mistake in my name to begin with. Then I thought to myself, well since I called the Helpdesk up, I suppose you can say so.

Responding to my momentary silence, the Helpdesk girl asked "Are you familiar with ayudame?". My reply was,"No". She added, "Can I have access to your mouse?". I told her "Sure".

What a name to call the aid program. Ayudame.

Counting Down

Counting down the hours to the end of a sabbatical. Twenty four hours to go. Farewell sabbatical.

Managed to catch a short interview of Jang Geun Suk on tv. However couldn't understand a word he said. The subtitles just have to be in Mandarin. Why can't they just have english subs? Rather happy though that as a consolation of being unable to attend the concert/fan meeting/show, I get to "see" him (through the screen). He has gained some weight though. Not as thin as he was in Mary Stayed Out All Night. Guess he was right about himself being the type that gains and loses weight easily.

So Near Yet So Far

Frowns. Deeply saddened that I couldn't attend Jang Guen Suk's first Cri Show in the county today. Sigh. I'm so near yet so far. In the same state but unable to be at the concert/fan meeting/show. Upset that I couldn't see him in person. Sigh. Wonder what he looks like in person? Wonder how tall he really is? So tempted to go to Seoul. Let Me Cry.

Puked

For the first time in almost a decade, I puked. I seldom puke but I don't know why I did. I supposed I shouldn't have eaten the spagetti given by the coach. The combination of spagetti and coffee and the glimpse of movie from the LCD screen in the bus must have been the cause of the motion sickness. Which ultimately lead to vomitting.

I never puke even on the bumpiest ride but somehow I couldn't control the vomit this time around. I nearly puked on myself because I couldn't find a plastic bag in my bag. Then I remembered the plastic bag containng buns that my parents have bought for me for my journey. I quickly emptied the bag. Sure enough, not long after I got hold of the plastic bag, the vomit surged from my mouth. I was really embarassed by the whole episode. But thankfully I didn't vomit on myself.

When I was done puking, I headed down to the lower deck to discharge the aftermath as well as to ask for another plastic bag, just in case of a second round. But I was told by the coach steward that they do not have any. He quickly asked me whether I needed him to get the driver to pull over so that I could puke. I assured him that there's no need. Otherwise the entire bus' passengers will be cursing me.

I still feel under the weather after the whole vomit episode. Groans. Why do I still smell vomit even after I have showered?

Say A Little Prayer

I can't describe my feelings at the moment. Sadness and fear all gubbled up. Everytime he coughs a little or when he looks tired, my heart is filled with fear. Everyday, I'll pray that he gets well. But I do not know whether my prayers are heard or whether I'm loud enough to be heard. Please say a little prayer for dad.

May Days

Had the most tiring and stressful time the past few weeks. Finally I can take a little breather and not worry about what the outcome will be. Whatever will be, will be.

Merge

A few days ago, while watching videos on Youtube, I stumbled upon a video of a drama starring Jang Geun Suk. Out of curiosity, I clicked on it and watched him "die" in episode 9. (So sad the hero died so early). The next day, I was randomly clicking again and stumbled upon videos of the show. After watching a video and reading the description, I was a little confused. Didn't the actor "die" in episode 9? Is he playing multiple roles in the show? Why is he alive in episodes 12-24? As my curiosity peaked, I did a quick search and realised why Jang Guen Suk's character miraculously came back to life.

What happened? Well, the fans were really upset with the storyline. They didn't like the fact that their idol died so early in the show. So the story was rewritten to give his character a life extension. He was back as someone else in the show.

Apparently, I'm a genius. Upon seeing the video, my mind did some mental merging without the need of editing equipment. The truth was the second show was mistaken for the first show as they have similar titles and both are period dramas. Mistook Hong Gil Dong for Hwang Jin Yi. Both start with H and stars the same actor.

250th Post

Heard really upsetting news today. Something that I wish the wind would blow away or perhaps it was misheard after all. Hoping for the best. Life's so full of shit. Randomly clicked on website and came across horoscope reading. Could agree more with its accuracy. "Emotional stress and troubles usually cause Cancerians stomach troubles and this can be made worse by eating the wrong foods. Make sure that you visit your dentist and have your eyes checked yearly as you are prone to weakness of vision and tooth enamel. It’s important to see to your own problems before you take on everyone else’s as it is extra baggage which you don’t really need in the coming weeks."

Strange Question

Four days ago, after dinner at a restaurant, my relatives decided to have dessert at another restaurant within the same vacinity. We settled for a quaint restaurant that they spotted en route to dinner. As the restaurant was small and there wasn't a table that could fit 11 people, we opted for the outside table. For some reason, everything about that particular restaurant was small, including the tables. We had to joined six tables together in order to fit the 11 of us. As my relatives live abroad, they have a fondness for local dessert.

After finishing his durian "roll", my nephew was still craving for something else. He decided to order Bubur Cha Cha. However, the waiters were not looking our direction. Hence his father told him to walk into the shop to place the order in BM. Having lived abroad since small, he does not know how to speak BM. So his father taught him a line on the spot.

N Father: Tell the waiter "Bubur Cha Cha satu mangkuk" (which means ones bowl of bubur cha cha).

Nephew: (repeats after dad) (walks in to place his order)

When he came out from the shop...

N Father: How did it go?

Nephew: I ordered in BM and she replied in English.

N Father: What did she say?

Nephew: She asked me which table.

N Father: Ok.

After a short moment...

N Father: That was a strange question. We're the only table here.

Niece: Which table number did you choose? Table 16,17,18,19,20,21?

Everyone: (laughs)

*None of us realised that the waitress' question was peculiar until my Nephew's father poited it out.

The End Of Something

Even though the outcome was anticipated, deep down inside, there was a hopeful feeling, that it isn't so. The meaning finally sunk in after seeing it in tangible form. Albeit knowing that it would turn out this way, the feeling of disappointment is inevitable.

Heart Of Gold

On 11 March 2011, Japan was struck by devastating earthquakes and tsunami. Seeing visual images of the earthquake, deathly tsunami waves that swept away vehicles and buildings, and whirlpool on the news was frightening, shocking and disheartening. Watching the wrath of nature and the aftermath brought back memories of the tsunami that hit South East Asia on the 26 December 2004.

It is times like these that we see the different sides of people.

We have seen the many sides of Jang Geun Suk and couldn't agree more that he's beautiful.

The adorable Jang Geun Suk.

Jang Geun Suk's look as Kang Mu Kyul in Marry Me Mary.

His playful side.

In a beanie.

Erm...Don't know which show or occasion perhaps normal hair look?

As Kang Geun Woo in Beethoven Virus.

Bumming around days.

....and always on the phone.

Some F1 event.

In the pool

His younger days.

He's even more beautiful now in the eyes of his fans because of his generosity and beautiful heart. Jang Geun Suk pledged to donate 10 million Yen to the Japan Earthquake & Tsunami Victims.

He's the knight in shining armor to Geum Jan Di in Boys Over Flowers, and Oh Ha Ni in Playful Kiss. He's not just a knight in shining armor in Korean Dramas, he's a knight in shining armor in real life too. Kim Hyun Joong pledged to donate 100 million Won to the victims of the Japan natural disaster victims.

Being the shining stars that they already are, Jang Geun Suk and Kim Hyun Joong of Korea shine even more with their Hearts of Gold.

Being surrounded by selfish and horrid individuals, it's truly a relief to know that there are still individuals with hearts of gold out there.

Mary Stayed Out All Night

Mary Stayed Out All Night is based on an internet comic by Won Soo Yeon called Maerineun Uibakjoong. It is also known as Mary is Out at Night / Marry Me, Mary!/ 매리는 외박중 / Maerineun Oebakjoong / Mary Stayed Out All Night/玛丽外宿中

Story

Wi Mae Ri is used to living the life of being constantly on the run from debtors who are after her father. One night, while driving around with her friends, she accidentally knocks down hippie rocker Kang Moo Kyul. Frantic that she had hit someone and over the fact that she has no means to pay for the medical charges, Mae Ri chases after Moo Kyul to ensure that he is fine. She ends up finding him performing at a pub. Fearing that Moo Kyul will press charges against her in her dire financial state, Mae Ri tailed him down to get him to sign a ‘disclaimer’ that no action will be taken against her in future.

Meanwhile Mae Ri’s father who is still on the run from debtors who are hot on his heels bumps into an old friend of his, Jung Suk. Jung Suk a successful entrepreneur has just returned to Korea from Japan after 20 years. After witnessing the assault by the debtors, Jung Suk who had harboured feelings for Mae Ri’s mother proposed a deal to Wi Dae Han. The deal was that he would settle Dae Han’s debts on one condition; that is Mae Ri will have to marry his son Jung In. In the event Mae Ri and Jung In don’t get married, Dae Han will have to returned the sum Jung Suk gave him to repay his debts.

Upon learning that she has to marry a total stranger, Mae Ri confided in her friends for a solution. They suggested that she dupe her father into believing that she has already married Moo Kyul by showing him their ‘wedding photos’.

That however failed to prevent the old folks from ensuring the marriage takes place. Undeterred by her story and overcome with fear of having to return Jung Suk’s money, Mae Ri’s father proposes a plan. The ingenious polyandrous marriage plan spans over 100 days in which Mae Ri is to divide the time spent with both men equally. At the end of the designated time frame Mae Ri has decide which of the two men is her Mr Right.

Review

Moo Kyul is a good looking, temperament rocker who was initially a street cat. He is the chick magnet that garners attention wherever he goes. He is pretty much a hippie without much money. He has a sad childhood as he was abandoned by his irresponsible mother which resulted in him developing commitment phobia. Although he works hard for a living, he finds it hard to make ends meet as he always have to help his incompetent mother settle her debts. He was unwillingly dragged into the fiasco by Mae Ri and his friends but soon developed feelings for her. He became possessive and jealous when he found that Jung In started being attracted to Mae Ri. His mischievous side is revealed when he tried to make Jung In back off from their relationship.

Jung In the son of the successful businessman Jung Suk, seems like he's living the good life but is actually an unhappy person. He is fearful of his father and has been controlled by him all his life. Jung In felt compelled to honour his promise; “Boka Gi Iru” (which means ” I will protect you” in Japanese)after recalling he had promised to protect her when they were small. That promise was made after they fell from the stairs during a piggy back ride while they were kids resulting in the scar on Mae Ri's forehead. It was really unfair to Jung In as he was just manipulated by his father. Jung In's character in the show was very pitiful because although he truly loves Mae Ri, he is willing to let her be with Moo Kyul. While he is deeply hurt that his feelings were not reciprocated he only wants her to be happy. A true gentleman, very gracious.

Jung In injured as a result of trying to protect Mary.

Kim Jae Wook (a.k.a Jung In) reminds me of those eunuchs in Chinese dramas; the high cheekbones with very little flesh on the face. Think the roles that would suit him are those of bodyguards or any role that requires poker face.lol.It’s funny to see Jung In because he is such a stiff person but yet he has to act funny.

It was really entertaining to watch Moo Kyul and Jung In trying to make each other jealous over Mae Ri.

Somehow, I get the feeling that Mae Ri regrets her action of not choosing Jung In as her partner.

Mae Ri is a street smart girl having grown up dealing with debtors that are after her gullible and incompetent father. She was against the arranged marriage and believes that marriage should be based on loyalty and love. She was initially skeptical about Moo Kyul being her 'husband' but soon finds herself attracted to him. It baffles me that Moon Geun Young won an award for her portrayal of Mae Ri. Her performance was not that exceptional and certainly does not seem like an award winning performance. Frankly speaking, if it wasn't because Jang Geun Suk was acting in the show, I probably would not have watched it. The award should have gone to Geun Suk instead of her. Mae Ri looks somewhat like a person with down syndrome. I know her fans are going to stone me to death for saying that.

Seo Jun is a beautiful actress who is temperament and hates being controlled. She is Moo Kyul's ex girlfriend who is still not over him. She still hopes to reconcile with Moo Kyul. She was really jealous when she found out that Mae Ri was dating Moo Kyul. She lost her cool when she had to sing a song composed by Moo Kyul and Mae Ri but relented when she realised that Moo Kyul's career is dependent on it.
